Your Blended Smoothie Prep How-To
What you’ll need:
- The smoothie blend(s) - stored in freezer unless staging in the fridge for rushes
- 9 oz of COLD blending liquid
- Spatula (to scrap out any smoothie left in the blender)
- 16 oz glass or to-go cup (+ lid & straw)
Method 1: Straight from Freezer Method
- Pull blend from the freezer, rinse for 10 seconds under warm water so you can move the blend inside the package (or put it in a container with warm water for 10 seconds).
- Add 9 oz blending liquid to the blender (just above 1 cup mark).
- Tear open the package and dispose of the top.
- Slide blend into the container so it’s standing up-right vs laying on the blade.
- Blend on speed 4-5 for approx 30 to 60 seconds, stir (blenders vary, we’ll test with you)
- You want a smooth texture without lumps: open lid, stir/check for lumps, if blended through go to next step. If there are lumps, blend again for 10 to 20 seconds & check.
- Pour into cup using spatula to scrape all of the smoothie into the cup
- Smoothie should hit the 2 cup (500ml) mark
Method 2: Quick Thaw Prep
- ½ fill a container with warm (NOT HOT) water, place smoothie pack in container so it hits ½ way up the pack
- Add your liquid to the blender (while blend is quick thawing & get cup ready)
- Check the blend after 30 seconds, you should be able to partially break in half.
- Add smoothie pieces to the blender (on each side of the blade)
- Blend on speed 4-5 for approx 20 to 30 seconds, stir
- Smoothie should hit the 2 cup (500ml) mark
- Pour into cup using spatula to scrape all of the smoothie into the cup
Method 3: Stage in Fridge for Rush Periods
- Pull pack from freezer and have staged in the fridge (it will soften slowly)
- Add 9 oz liquid to blender
- Break the smoothie puck in half and blend on speed 4 for 20-30 seconds, open, stir, check for lumps.
- As needed, blend again for 10 to 20 seconds, stir & pour into cup.
If the smoothie doesn’t hit the 500ml level on the jug, or if your blend is over-thawed/ over-blended, add ¼ cup of ice and blend for 10-20 seconds.
Smoothie Bowl Prep
Use any of our smoothie blends to make a smoothie bowl.
Prep as you would your smoothie (above), but using 3/4 cup frozen banana and 3/4 cup cold water for a very-thick smoothie bowl base.
Blend frozen banana and cold water (or other blending liquid). Add smoothie into blender, stir, then blend on medium speed until it’s a smooth texture (you may need to add another ¼ cup liquid if too thick).
Pour into a bowl and add toppings like fresh fruit, granola, coconut and chia seeds (avoid hard dried fruit like raisins as the cold may make it very hard/ tough to chew).
Packaging: made from renewable, fully #2 recyclable materials. Please rinse them well and place the pouch in the recycling bin.
