Hangover Prevention
Tips for Minimizing Your Hangover:
Get Your Health On: Go into the eve rested & enjoy a little self-care the next day (sweat, eat well, rest).
Hydrate: Drink lots of water throughout the day then get into the 1:1 Water Rule—a glass of water for every alcoholic drink.
Avoid refined sugars during the day & in your drinks: High sugar drinks are a hangover guarantee. Try soda water as the base (liven up with splashes of other mixes in very minimal amounts).
Skip Energy Drinks: If this is your go-to move for getting your energy up and staying in the celebration game, it’s time to change it up. Not only are they often sugar-packed, but almost always guarantee a poor sleep, which fuels hangover pain.
Load up on potassium & magnesium-containing foods: Avocados, nuts, legumes, dark leafy greens, bananas. (Pre-game pro tip: Drink/eat either The After Party or The Remedy smoothie an hour before you start drinking.)
Avoid darker-coloured alcoholic beverages. According to Harvard Health, experiments have shown that clear liquors, such as vodka and gin, tend to cause hangovers less frequently than dark ones, such as whiskey and red wine. The main form of alcohol in alcoholic beverages is ethanol, but the darker liquors contain congeners, including methanol, which have high toxicity, so they may cause a worse hangover.
